Morelia

Once described as ‘an ocean of forest’, this region in Caquetá was selected for a resurvey because it has seen among the highest rates of transformation. What was once a uniform expanse of primary forest, is now reduced to small islands of forest within a sea of pasture. The expedition team had a hard time finding large enough relicts of forest to get faithful samples of what once was. The resurvey at Morelia took place form the 2nd to the 16th of August 2021.
